The direct work of a person with radioactive waste is extremely dangerous. To maintain human health、 it is necessary to be at a safe distance from radioactive waste that is sealed into a storage container. At many enterprises of radioactive waste processing、 man's manual labor is still used at many stages of processing and operations. Personnel of such enterprises must carry personal dosimeters during their work to determine the received radiation doses and stop working in case of exceeding the limit values.
The project presents a robotic system for automation of the operations of radioactive waste processing process. An autonomous mobile robot was developed that solves the problem of transporting and manipulating containers with radioactive waste in the conditions of a processing enterprise.
According to open information sources、 about 5 million tons of radioactive waste are generated annually. The sources of pollution are: 90% - extraction and processing of raw materials with an increased content of natural radionuclides、 5% - nuclear power、 4% - the military industry、 1% - the national economy. As can be seen from the figures presented、 and also considering the significant amount of accumulated waste from previous years - the problem of processing and recycling of such wastes will be relevant in the coming decades、 even in spite of active attempts to find an effective alternative to the existing consumption of resources.
