In an age where internationalization is progressing in every field, the JIII is actively promoting international cooperative activities for the purpose of diffusing the industrial property system in Asian and Pacific countries, where the importance of worldwide internationalization is particularly increasing. This is being accomplished through the training of human resources, which is responsible for system practices and the practical use of information in developing countries.
Furthermore, the JIII conducts communication with children in many countries through invention encouragement activities, and also participates in overseas exhibitions of inventions, symposiums, and other related events.
Reception of Trainees
The JIII is commissioned by the Japan Patent Office to receive trainees from private enterprises, law offices, research institutions, etc. in the inside and outside of the Asian-Pacific region, as well as from government offices in developing countries to conduct training related to the industrial property system.
Furthermore, training for government officials in charge of industrial property in their respective countries is conducted. In addition, the JIII conducts training, etc. as entrusted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). On the basis of the Japan Fund to WIPO, thus making efforts to promote international exchange and diffuse the industrial property system.
International Symposium
For the purpose of supporting the smooth promotion of cooperative activities for developing human resources in the Asian and Pacific Regions as commissioned by the Patent Office, the JIII holds a domestic symposium once a year, whereby intellectual persons in the Asian and Pacific regions meet together.
Furthermore, the JIII receives financial aid from the Japan KEIRIN Association and holds an overseas symposium once a year in an Asian or Pacific region country for the purpose of forming the basis of industrial property systems. Persons who are engaged in work related to industrial property in enterprises, and also patent attorneys working in the same region, are participants in this symposium.
Investigation of and Consultation on Foreign Industrial Property Systems,
and Holding of Seminar by Experts
On commission by the Japan Patent Office, the JIII investigates industrial property systems and the operation thereof in various foreign countries, collects information related thereto, consults with Japanese enterprises and individuals about their questions concerning the actual state and analysis of the protection of rights, the acquisition of patent rights, the practical use thereof, etc. in various foreign countries, and provides necessary information.
Furthermore, the JIII invites specialists from developing countries where industrial property laws are being revised, and holds a seminar on the operation of their industrial property systems on the basis of individual and concrete cases, thereby supporting the acquisition of industrial property rights in developing countries by Japanese enterprises and individuals.
Dispatch of Experts
In order to foster human resources related to the industrial property system and the development of invention, and to diffuse this system, the JIII dispatches experts well-versed in each special field to countries in Asia with the cooperation of each organ concerned.
